Born September 22, 1937, died peacefully surrounded by family at St Joseph’s Health Care, Hamilton, Sunday, May 12, 2024, at age 86. He is now reunited with his beloved wife of 62 years Margaret (Donnelly) Chamberlain. Loving father of David (Teresa), Catherine (Michael), Jean (Thomas), and Laura (James). Cherished grandfather of Michelle (Aaron), Matthew (Yen), Maggi, Jake, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Hannah, Abby, Christopher, and Jack. Great Gramp to Makinley and Riyka. Dear brother to the late Larry Chamberlain and step-brother to Barbara Wilcox and the late Helen Kell, and their families. Warm uncle to families of Ron, Marlene, and Rob.
Gerry, a steadfast pillar of faith, whose journey began on a farm near Shedden, ON before completing his B.Sc. in Agriculture (University of Guelph) and his M.B.A. (York University). Employing lessons from his farming roots and education he held leadership roles at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Crop Insurance Commission of Ontario before being named Executive Coordinator for the 15th Annual Premier’s Conference in Toronto. Gerry then embarked on a prestigious and ground-breaking role as Vice-President at Scotiabank for Agriculture and Aboriginal Services from 1974-1999. His empathy, wisdom and actions were a continued testament of unwavering commitment to the marginalized, embodying Christ’s love. He had a heart for missions and loyally served on Board’s for decades creating lasting impacts on the lives of many. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Philpott Church, 84 York Blvd., Hamilton, Saturday, May 18, 2023 at 2pm.
