What if you could save a life today by donating as little as $52?
Catherine’s daughter-in-law was about to deliver but needed immediate medical care. Upon arriving at the health centre Catherine’s daughter-in-law was asked to pay for the operation that was needed to save her and her baby (150,000 ugx or the equivalent of $52 Cdn). She had no money but thankfully she was able to reach out to her local women’s group and received a small loan from their community seed fund.
Catherine’s daughter-in-law received the life saving measures she needed, unfortunately her grandchild was still born.
Mercy was only 18 years old when she went into labour and experienced complications. She needed to get to the local hospital to receive a c-section but didn’t have the funds. Mercy’s community women’s group provided her with a small loan to pay for transport to the hospital. Both Mercy and her daughter survived because they received timely treatment.
Without the necessary funds, medical treatment is always out of reach. All too often this is the case in Uganda. YOU can ensure that changes.
Save the Mothers seed fund projects provide these women-led groups with 250,000ugx in cash and 2 goats. The seed funds are used to support pregnant women and girls in need of emergency medical transport or treatment at their local health centre. These women have the opportunity to repay the loan with a small amount of interest. The goats provide milk for the babies and manure for farming - both are essential to ensure babies thrive.
