Our Mission & Vision

The Save the Mothers Program is a Master’s Degree in Public Health Leadership, first started at Uganda Christian University in 2005. Students study on a part time basis over two years, completing the program with an intensive community outreach project.

Our Mission:

Is to train local leaders to reduce maternal mortality within their own country.

Our Vision:

Is that no mother, or her child, should die from preventable causes.

We Believe:

That universal access to safe maternal care in childbirth is a basic human right.

We Work:

In partnership with other like-minded groups and individuals.

“This is not a woman’s issue. This is a development issue.”

“Donor states need to find ways not only to solve the human resource crisis inside poor countries but also to decrease their own dependency on foreign health-care workers.”
