“Ugandan Member of Parliament visits Canada on behalf of Save the Mothers June 19-29, 2007”

The Honourable Sylvia Ssinabulya, Member of Parliament for Uganda, is a student of the Save the Mothers program. She has recently introduced a bill to parliament which urged the Ugandan government to make safe motherhood a priority. The bill was overwhelmingly passed and the government will now take further action. Sylvia was featured in The Daily Monitor, a national newspaper, for her work and advocacy. Even before graduating from STM, this influential women is being recognized for her leadership in maternal care. Sylvia has recruited 3 other members of parliament for the 2007 STM class. This will make a major difference to the laws of Uganda and will lead to great improvement in the health of mothers.

The Honourable Sylvia Ssinabulya has been invited to speak to the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in Ottawa on June 21 and will be sharing at different events across Ontario during her stay with us. Please consider joining us for any one of these events.
